Vacuum Hose Repair at Discount Store in Nantwich

Following a call from a discount store in Nantwich, Cheshire reporting that the vacuum hose on their floor scrubber dryer had split.  Discount stores have become very popular around the UK and this store in the market town of Nantwich was no different offering a wide range of goods at bargain prices.  Naturally being so busy the store was concerned that with the machine out of action they would struggle to keep the floors clean and required a quick resolution.   We have a number of machine engineers so after capturing all the necessary details for the work report we sent one of our engineers to the store to make the vacuum hose repair or replace the hose if required.

Making a Vacuum Hose Repair

After a quick inspection it was clear that the vacuum hose (number 2 in the diagram below) which runs from the floor squeegee at the back of the machine up to the recovery tank had indeed split.  The squeegee trails along the floor behind the machine capturing the dirty water which is then extracted up the Vacuum Hose into the recovery tank.   With a split in the hose the suction pressure created by the suction pump was severely reduced due to the air being sucked in via the split in the hose causing dirty water to be left on the floor.

The hose on this particular machine was the original from when it was purchased five years ago and the split was down to general wear and tear which given the amount of daily use floor cleaning machines get is not that surprising.

As our engineer carried a ready supply of spare parts in the van, he was able to make the necessary vacuum hose repair whilst on-site.

Nothing is more embarrassing than to be called back to a site to correct another problem so after replacing the vacuum hose the machine was given a thorough inspection to make sure the machine was in full working order. The scrubber dryer was the ever popular Viper Fang 24 which after the final inspection was returned back into service ready for the cleaning team that evening after the store closes.

Here at A3 Machines, we are kept very busy across the UK with a whole variety of different tasks, from repairs and services to training and demonstration. One thing we see a lot of though, is the need to repair machines from the very popular Viper range of floor cleaning machines. However, in the vast majority of cases, these call outs are down to faults that can be totally avoided and result from improper use of the machines or a lack of preventative maintenance. In this instance though, the fault was not down to any misuse, but more a case of general wear and tear that happens from time to time when a machine is used intensely on a regular basis.

Viper Fang 24 Pedestrian Scrubber Dryer

The Viper Fang 24 scrubber dryer is a robust machine. Measuring 141 x 66 x 100cm, it is housed in moulded plastic but its size means that it is durable whilst also being manoeuvrable. It is protected by front and rear collision protection and an impact-proof cover. It works in virtue of two tanks, one of which releases clean water and chemicals. The brushes then scrub the floor and the dirty water is sucked up as the machine moves over it, depositing the dirty water in the second tank. This makes it very simple to dispose of the dirty water, and the 66-litre tank means the user can spend less time emptying and more time cleaning.
