Scrubber Dryer Switch Fault Repaired at Nottingham Store

The owner of an independent retail store in Nottingham called us recently to report what he thought was a switch fault with their Viper Fang 20HD scrubber dryer. This machine has several rocker switches on the main panel that control various functions and they were unable to get any power to the water release and vacuum mechanisms.

A3 Machines service floor cleaning machines for a wide range of customers from food manufacturers, large cleaning companies and retail chains right down to smaller independent shops. Quite often the machine has seen a lot of use which causes wear and tear and so like a car which has travelled a lot of miles it will develop the occasional fault.

The store owner relied on the machine to keep the floors clean and maintain a presentable appearance for their customers and without being able to engage the water release or the vacuum to recover the water from the floor the machine was unusable.

Diagnosing a Viper Fang 20HD Switch Fault

Our engineer made the journey to Nottingham, to inspect the machine and repair the fault. Before leaving he made sure to stock his vehicle with spare parts for the Viper Fang 20HD including replacement rocker switches. Our engineers also carry a spare scrubber dryer which can be left with the customer in case the problem cannot be repaired on-site.

Given the two faults happened at the same time and both functions were electrically controlled, one being a solenoid and the other a motor our engineer felt it was unlikely to be a switch fault and suspected the cause of the problem was likely to do with the wiring within the machine or a faulty circuit breaker. After stripping down the machine to reveal the wiring his suspicions were proven correct when he found that a wire had worked its way loose and so power was not being delivered to the rocker switches on the control panel. The problem was soon rectified, and the machine was then put through a full set of standard tests to ensure there were no other faults or worn parts that would need addressing. All was well, so the machine was put back into service.

Viper Fang 20HD Scrubber Dryer

The Viper Fang 20 is a medium sized battery powered scrubber dryer. It is designed to be robust, due to its rotationally moulded housing, whilst also being manoeuvrable, due to its ergonomic design. It thus strikes that fine balance between usability and solidity. The machine comes with an extra set of squeegees on board, ensuring the user can regularly change and clean part when needed. There is also an on-board charger for the battery. The vacuum motor is two-stage, meaning the pressure applied by the vacuum can be altered for different surfaces if needed.

The brush is powered by a 560w motor whilst the vacuum is also powerful, controlled by a 400w motor. The solution and recovery tanks can hold 61ltrs of liquid and It weighs approximately 138kg as standard, though this can obviously vary depending on the liquid contained in the machine.
