Blocked Filter Resolved for Telford Packing Company
Recently we received a call from a packing company requesting assistance with their scrubber dryer which had stopped dispersing detergent onto the floor being cleaned. Potential causes for this could be a solenoid failure, pump failure, electrical issue, blocked hose or filter however we wouldn’t know for sure until an engineer had paid them a visit.
The packaging facility was located in Telford, Shropshire which conveniently is only 16 miles from our base of operations in Market Drayton. Telford is actually a relatively new town, comprised of smaller industrial settlements that merged in the 1960’s and 70’s. The town is named after Thomas Telford, who you may recall is a famous an engineer that developed numerous rail and road projects that linked places in the area together.
Upon inspection of the machine, our engineer found the root cause of the problem to be a very relatively simple one, it was in fact a blocked filter. Being on the detergent side of the machine it’s not that common for debris to become stuck in the filter however small particles can cause blockages in the machine hoses which can be difficult to remove. Viper have clearly thought of this and the filter is there to prevent such a problem.
After tracing the fault to the blocked filter our engineer showed the staff how to remove the blockage and as such, get the machine back in full working order again. Hopefully with this extra instruction the staff will follow the user maintenance schedule going forward as this trip could have been avoided if the preventative maintenance tasks had been carried out more regularly.
The brush is powered by a 560w motor whilst the vacuum is also powerful, controlled by a 400w motor. The detergent and recovery tanks can hold 61 litres of liquid which contributes to a productivity rate of 2,000 m2 per hour.
Here at A3 Machines, we are kept very busy across the UK with a whole variety of different tasks, from repairs and services to training and demonstration. In our experience many of the issues our engineers face are down to faults that can be totally avoided and result from improper use of the machines or a lack of preventative maintenance.

Scrubber Dryer Fault Finding
With his service vehicle stocked with spare parts we sent one of our engineers to the company headquarters in Telford, to troubleshoot the machine and get it fully operational again. The scrubber dryer with the problem was a Viper Fang 20HD which we usually find are very reliable, so he suspected the problem was probably a blockage of some sort, most likely a blocked filter. Whatever the cause without detergent being dispensed to the floor the machine would not be doing an effective job and unlikely to meet the cleaning standards they expect from the machine.Upon inspection of the machine, our engineer found the root cause of the problem to be a very relatively simple one, it was in fact a blocked filter. Viper Fang 20HD Pedestrian Scrubber Dryer
The Viper Fang 20 is a medium sized battery powered scrubber dryer. It is designed to be robust, due to its rotationally moulded housing, whilst also being manoeuvrable, due to its ergonomic design. It thus strikes that fine balance between usability and solidity. The machine comes with an extra set of squeegees on board, ensuring the user can regularly change and clean part when needed. There is also an on-board charger for the battery. The vacuum motor is two-stage, meaning the pressure applied by the vacuum can be altered for different surfaces if needed. The brush is powered by a 560w motor whilst the vacuum is also powerful, controlled by a 400w motor. The detergent and recovery tanks can hold 61 litres of liquid which contributes to a productivity rate of 2,000 m2 per hour.
