Cleaning Machine Water Leak Repaired at Barking High School
The head caretaker at a high school in East London contacted us to report that their Viper Fang 20HD scrubber dryer has a water leak. The school was situated in the town of Barking, in the East London borough of Barking and Dagenham which is roughly a three hour trip from our base in Shropshire. We actually provide services to a larger number schools and colleges throughout the country so travelling down to East London is not an unusual request for our service engineers.
When inspecting the scrubber dryer, our engineer found that the skirting which provides a seal around the perimeter of the scrub head had become damaged and this was allowing water to escape resulting in the leakage experienced by the schools cleaning staff. Unfortunately this is quite a rare problem and our engineer did not have a replacement part known as a Scrub Head Skirt from the manufacturer Viper Cleaning.
Our Engineer decided the best course of action would be to take the damaged machine back within with him back to our base in Shropshire where he could make the repair once the new Skirt arrived and then fully test it before returning it the school. Naturally this would leave the school without a floor cleaning machine so a loan machine of a similar model was left in place. Our goal is reduced downtime for the customers so if we can’t resolve the problem on site we will leave you with a loan machine as part of the service contract.
The replacement Scrub Head Skirt arrived and was fitted two days later, the machine was then fully tested to ensure the water leak had been resolved and there were no other problems with the machine. The machine was then returned to the school the following day and our loan machine picked up.
Finding the Water Leak Source
When our engineer arrived on the scene he began his inspection of the floor cleaning machine in order to trace the source of the water leak. The school had opted for a Viper Fang 20HD battery-operated walk behind scrubber drier to keep their larger areas of floor space clean in the face of the soiling from all the students, especially at this time of year when the weather is particularly wet and muddy. When inspecting the scrubber dryer, our engineer found that the skirting which provides a seal around the perimeter of the scrub head had become damaged and this was allowing water to escape resulting in the leakage experienced by the schools cleaning staff.
