Viper Fang 24T Machine Repair at Discount Retailer in South Wales

A large discount retail store had contacted us to see if reparations could be made to their Viper Fang 24T floor cleaning machine. The store is located in Port Talbot, Neath Port Talbot in South Wales. The town is notable for its steelworks, one of the largest of its kind in the world and did you know it will also be home to the world’s largest biomass power stations.

Assessing the Machine

Our engineer arrived at the large discount retail store in Port Talbot to isolate the source of the problem the customer was experiencing with their machine. As a large store in the town, it had a vast area of tiled flooring, which, because of regular customer foot fall and trolley traffic, needs consistent cleaning to meet store and hygiene standards. Thus, it was very important for the engineer to assess the machine and remedy the issue. The customer had informed our engineer that the machine was not working at all. He was also informed that there had been a large leak in the store recently. The machine was a Viper Fang 24T pedestrian scrubber dryer which is known for being a robust and reliable machine however you have to remember anything with moving parts will suffer eventual wear leading to breakdown at some point. After inspecting the machine, the engineer concluded that the source of the problem was the charger. It would seem the leak had caused water damage to the charger, and as the Viper Fang 24 is battery powered, the battery had likely run out of charge and, owing to the water damage to the charger, power could not be restored to the battery. The water damage meant that the charger itself was irreparable, and the engineer needed to replace the unit with a new one. Fortunately we carry a lot of spares in our service vehicles and the engineer was able to do this on site and made the simple exchange there and then. After switching out the damaged charger and leaving it to charge for a while the machine was fully tested.
It’s worth noting that Viper recommend that you turn the machine off and lift the recovery tank up to expose the battery compartment when charging the machine. Batteries can emit hydrogen gas when charging and an explosion or fire could result if allowed to build-up in a confined space. Tips like this can be found in the User Manual which if your using one of these machines you should definitely read, its only 24 pages and a copy can be found on our website here: Viper Fang 24T,26T,28T User Manual.pdf. Viper Fang 24 Battery Powered Pedestrian Scrubber Dryer

The Viper 24 features a 66-litre tank and is a robust machine measuring 141 x 66 x 100cm. It is protected by front and rear collision protection and an impact-proof cover. It works in virtue of two tanks, one of which releases clean water and chemicals. The brushes then scrub the floor and the dirty water is sucked up as the machine moves over it, depositing the dirty water in the second tank. This makes it very simple to dispose of the dirty water. After charging the machine, the engineer performed a full service on the machine, but found no major faults, merely general wear and tear that naturally comes with repeated use. The engineer offered full advice on preventative maintenance, including steps to descale the water tank and grease the bolts. The customer was very satisfied with the outcome.
