Prochem Polaris 800 Repair at Private Nursing Home in Wolverhampton

We were contacted by a private nursing home in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. They had seen our website and wondered whether or not we could advise them of a company who could perform machine repairs to their Prochem Polaris 800. They had contacted us as Wolverhampton isn’t that far from our head office in Soudley and we were very pleased to inform them that we had a number of mobile engineers who could perform repairs across the UK and would be more than happy to send the next available.

Assessing the Machine

An engineer was sent to the nursing home in Wolverhampton the very same day to inspect the machine and isolate the source of the problem. As a large private nursing home, the carpets see a lot of use, from the residents and staff to visitors who are constantly coming and going. Naturally, when dealing with elderly people afflicted with various illnesses, spillage and staining is quite common. As such, not just for presentation purposes, but also to meet hygiene standards, keeping on top of cleaning the carpets it’s absolutely essential. The customer reported that the cleaner was not doing a “very good job” of cleaning the carpets. The machine was a Prochem Polaris 800 which to the uninitiated is described as an “Upright self-contained power brush carpet & upholstery cleaning machine”. We service these machines on a regular basis and so are quite familiar, as with anything mechanical parts do wear out over time and need replacing. Upon inspection our engineer found two malfunctions with the cleaner which, taken together, was causing the machine to work less efficiently and do a poor job of cleaning. The first problem was that the vacuum motor itself had failed, and due to regular wear and tear, the carpet brush was very badly worn down. Whilst the brush could be replaced on site, the vacuum motor was a part that our engineer did not have to hand; therefore, it needed to be ordered to complete the repair. However, as we knew the make and model of the machine concerned, the engineer was able to provide a free-of-charge loan of the machine to the customer, whilst the engineer took the machine back to our main site to complete the repairs once the new vacuum motor arrived.

Prochem Polaris 800 Carpet Cleaner

The Prochem Polaris 800 machine is a carpet cleaner which features a full floating and self-levelling cylindrical powerbrush, which eliminates the need for continual manual adjustment. It carries a large 30 litre solution tank and has a “See-thru” recovery dome and easy to lift-off buckets, for quick emptying and replacement. There are no hoses to detach. It measures at 96x122x48 cm and comes with a number of optional attachments, such as a hand tool, stainless steel upholstery and an accessory hose. Prochem's state-of-the-art self-contained carpet soil extractor provides unequalled features for the institutional and commercial carpet cleaner. The Polaris 800 has the cleaning power to tackle large open areas, yet handles like a lightweight. The customer was satisfied with the results and the machine is once again running at its peak. Aside from repairing the machine, the engineer offered in depth advice about the future maintenance of the machine, demonstrating the most effective way to descale the water tanks and highlighting the importance of regularly greasing the bolts. Advice on preventative maintenance and proper care of the machines is something that is always offered to customers.
