Repairing an Immobile Viper Fang Cleaning Machine for Keighley Retailer

On this occasion, a customer called from a retailer who informed us that their Viper Fang Cleaning machine was simply not moving. The store itself was located in Keighley which is near Bradford in West Yorkshire. The town has an industrial heritage and was well known once as a centre for its textile production, particularly wool and cotton processing as well as the engineering of textile machinery. These days of course things are different and like many towns in the Yorkshire now has a mix of retailers and small businesses.

Assessing the Viper Fang Cleaning Machine

Our engineer was dispatched to the retail store Keighley to diagnose and make repairs to the machine. Like any busy store they have to meet strict standards which include cleaning the floors on a regular basis which soon become dirty due to constant customer foot fall and trolley traffic. It was therefore very important for the engineer to assess the machine and remedy the issue so the machine could be put back into service as quickly as possible.

Suspecting that the problem was related to the speed control board our engineer ran a number of tests on the board and it soon became clear that there was a problem with this component. The machine was a Viper Fang 24T battery powered pedestrian scrubber dryer and the inbuilt safety mechanism has immobilised the machine rather than allow it to be driven. Cleaning machines like this do get a lot of wear and components can fail, fortunately we service Viper machines on a regular basis can carry a range of spare parts.

Our engineer was able to replace the speed control board and the machine once again moved. He also gave the machine a thorough inspection and found that, due to general use, one of the wheels was badly worn down and needed replacing. He made the replacement before greasing the castors and carrying out a full operational test.

The Viper Fang Cleaning machine features a 66 litre tank and is a robust machine measuring 141 x 66 x 100cm. It is protected by front and rear collision protection and an impact-proof cover. It works in virtue of two tanks, one of which releases clean water and cleaning solution. The brushes then scrub the floor and the dirty water is sucked up as the machine moves over it, depositing the dirty water in the second tank. This makes it very simple to dispose of the dirty water.

The customer was satisfied with the results and the Viper Fang Cleaning machine is once again running at its peak. Aside from repairing the machine, the engineer offered detailed advice about the future maintenance of the machine and demonstrated the most effective way to descale the water tanks and highlighting the importance of regularly greasing the bolts. Advice on preventative maintenance and proper care of the machines is something that is always offered to customers.
