Scrubber Dryer Solution Tank Descaling at Stoke Retailer

Once of our engineers reported back that a call we sent him on recently was caused by a severe build-up of Limescale and to resolve he had to run through a solution tank descaling procedure several times before the machine would dispense water onto the floor again.

The call originated from a customer in Stoke-on-Trent who operate a discount store there; they reported that their Viper Fang 20 HD scrubber dryer would not dispense cleaning fluid onto the floor during operation and suspecting a mechanical fault requested an engineer attend and fix the problem. As we already had an engineer in the Stoke area, we were able to attend on the same day.

Solution Tank Descaling a Viper Fang 20HD

Our engineer called into the store in Stoke-on-Trent and started working on the machine to identify the cause. Our engineer soon discovered that the problem was due to an excessively large build-up of limescale inside the solution tank which was so bad that no water whatsoever was able to leave the machine. He descaled the water tank then in the presence of their head cleaner gave advice on the importance of regular descaling and preventative maintenance. As always, following any repair or procedure, the machine was fully tested before our engineer left the premises.

If you operate a Viper Fang 20 HD yourself then we highly recommend you become familiar with the recommended maintenance procedures as highlighted in the user manual as this will ensure maximum performance from your machine and reduce call outs. Avoiding Hard Water Problems

Stoke-on-Trent is a Hard Water area which means that the local water has a high mineral content which are deposited on adjacent surfaces as the water evaporates. Over time this can lead to large deposits of limescale which as in the case of this machine can block the flow or impede the the progress of water through the machine.

The best way to avoid this happening is to follow Viper Cleaning machine user guide which recommends the following actions are taken “Any time scrubbing operation is completed, the solution tank should be drained and cleaned.”
  1. Pull down on the clear tube (back left of the machine) to remove it from the hose barb. This will allow the solution to flow freely into a bucket or floor drain.
  2. Rinse the solution tank with clean water after every use. This will help prevent chemical buildup and clogging of the solution lines.
  3. With clean water in solution tank, turn machine power on, solution switch to “on” and pull the operating triggers. This will allow the clean water to flush through the solution plumbing.
  4. Once tank is rinsed, flushed and drained, reconnect the clear tube to the hose barb. Be sure the tube is pushed all the way up the hose barb.
The alternative is for solution tank descaling with a strong chemical but take care if you’re doing this yourself as these products can cause severe skin burns and eye damage so always read the product label and wear appropriate protective clothing.
