Overheating Scrubber Dryer Repaired at Merseyside Primary School

The caretaker of a small primary school contacted our offices to arrange for an engineer to come and take a look at their overheating scrubber dryer which was cutting out during use.  The school itself was well within Merseyside, in the metropolitan area of St. Helen’s, where the 52 primary schools there consistently perform above the national average in terms of examination results.  We find scrubber dryers are fast becoming a popular choice for school floor cleaning where there is a requirement to do a thorough cleaning job across a large area with limited resources.

Inspecting the Overheating Scrubber Dryer

The call-out for our engineer involved him travelling north of our home base in Shropshire to the primary school in St. Helen’s, Merseyside, to inspect the overheating scrubber dryer that had been troubling the caretaker there in recent weeks.  The floors of the school would see the obvious build up of dirt and scuffing from the children in attendance and for this reason, the task of cleaning the floors needed to be performed by an adequate machine. The caretaker used a Viper Fang 24T battery-powered pedestrian scrubber dryer for this purpose, but a new problem had arisen with the machine, whereby the machine was getting hot and then cutting out after a short period of use. Obviously, this was a serious issue, and a professional needed to make the repairs, as the fault could be hazardous if left unattended.

When our engineer arrived, he immediately went to inspect the machine, hoping that the problem was not so serious that he would have to take the machine away for repair. After inspecting and running diagnostic testing on the machine, he found the cause of the problem to be a faulty connection on the reset terminal. Once our engineer had isolated this as the source of the issue, he underwent the process of replacing the reset terminal. Our engineers keep a large range of spare parts and often replacement machines in their service vehicles so he was able to obtain the required part without the need to refer back to our head office in Shropshire.  After doing this, he tested the machine for a full thirty minutes, to see whether or not the overheating scrubber dryer issue persisted. 

All was well so whilst he was there he gave the machine a full service as none had been carried out since they acquired the machine approximately five years ago, which is a testament to the reliability of Viper Cleaning machines. With the overheating scrubber dryer now serviced and repaired it was in perfect working order he was able to reassure the caretaker that the machine was now safe to use and could be returned into operation.

Viper Fang 24T Battery Powered Pedestrian Scrubber Dryer

The Viper 24T scrubber-dryer is a robust machine. Measuring 141 x 66 x 100cm, it is housed in moulded plastic, but its size means that it is durable whilst also being manoeuvrable. It is protected by front and rear collision protection and an impact-proof cover. It works in virtue of two tanks, one of which releases clean water and chemicals. The brushes then scrub the floor and the dirty water is sucked up as the machine moves over it, depositing the dirty water in the second tank. This makes it very simple to dispose of the dirty water, and the 66-litre tank means the user can spend less time emptying and more time cleaning.   This particular model was a 24T, where the ”T” stands for “traction”, and differs from the non-traction model in that it has an extra, third motor which drives the machine forward.
